My name is Marcus Leland and I am the High School Social Studies teacher here at Melrose-Mindoro. This will be my first year teaching in the Melrose-Mindoro school district but my 10th year overall as a teacher. I spent the last 9 years teaching in the school district of Cornell. I grew up in West Salem and graduated high school from there. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a degree in Broad Field Social Studies and minors in history and political science. While at UWL I was very active in student government and spent two years serving as a resident assistant. I bring a wide breadth of experience to my position here at Melrose-Mindoro, during my time at Cornell I taught grades 7-12, while also serving as the Student Council advisor. I also was the assistant cross-country and track coach, as well as the varsity girls basketball coach for 4 years before spending the last 3 years as the Boys varsity coach. In my free time I love to stay active and read. Sports are my passion especially basketball. I look forward to meeting all of you in the next coming weeks and months.
